Safety and Effectiveness of Pulsed Field Ablation to Treat Atrial Fibrillation: One-Year Outcomes From the MANIFEST-PF Registry

This study evaluated the safety and effectiveness of pulsed-field ablation, a nonthermal cardiac ablation technique. It included 1,568 patients with atrial fibrillation who underwent pulsed field ablation. The primary effectiveness outcome was freedom from documented atrial arrhythmia after a 3-month blanking period. The study found that after a median follow-up of 367 days, the 1-year estimate for freedom from atrial arrhythmia was 78.1%. Clinical effectiveness was higher in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation compared to persistent atrial fibrillation. Acute major adverse events occurred in 1.9% of patients. The results suggest that pulsed field ablation is a clinically effective treatment option for atrial fibrillation.
