Safety and efficacy of continuous subcutaneous levodopa–carbidopa infusion for Parkinson's disease

A study comparing subcutaneous ND0612 infusion to oral levodopa–carbidopa for Parkinson's disease treatment found ND0612 provided additional on-time without troublesome dyskinesia (1.72 hours). ND0612 also reduced off-time, improved patient-reported outcomes, and had a favorable safety profile. Adverse events, primarily mild infusion-site reactions, were more common with ND0612. Serious adverse events were rare and not treatment-related, except for one death unrelated to the study treatment. Subcutaneous ND0612, alongside oral levodopa–carbidopa, could offer a safe and effective approach to managing motor fluctuations in Parkinson's disease, with ongoing long-term efficacy and safety assessment
