A pivotal trial, GC-010, evaluated the safety and efficacy of two models of travoprost intraocular implants compared to timolol in lowering intraocular pressure (IOP). Results showed both implant groups achieved significant IOP reduction (6.6 to 8.5 mmHg) over six timepoints, meeting primary efficacy endpoints. Adverse events (AEs) were mild or moderate, with iritis and ocular hyperaemia being common. The implants demonstrated non-inferiority to timolol in IOP reduction with a favorable safety profile, though one serious AE (endophthalmitis) was reported. The study concluded the implants effectively reduced IOP over a 3-month period post-administration.
