A study conducted on a real-world population of heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) investigated the safety of using mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) across a range of estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFR), including severe chronic kidney disease (CKD). Of the 33,942 patients analyzed, 51% received MRAs with varying eGFR levels. The study found that MRA use was not associated with a higher risk of renal events, all-cause mortality, or hospitalization, regardless of eGFR. This research suggests that MRAs may be safe for HFrEF patients with CKD, addressing concerns about renal safety.
