This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of once-weekly efpeglenatide in people with type 2 diabetes who were not optimally controlled with oral glucose-lowering drugs and/or basal insulin. The study consisted of three randomized controlled trials comparing efpeglenatide to dulaglutide, placebo, and other medications. Results showed that efpeglenatide was non-inferior to dulaglutide in terms of reducing HbA1c and demonstrated greater improvements in glycaemic control and body weight than placebo. Few participants reported hypoglycemia and adverse events were consistent with other glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists.
