School bullying in children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions

In a comprehensive meta-analysis of 212 studies involving 126,717 cases, researchers found that young people with neurodevelopmental or psychiatric conditions face a significantly higher risk of bullying victimization and perpetration. The study revealed that, compared to controls, these individuals were more likely to be involved in both traditional (2.85 times higher odds) and cyberbullying (2.07 times higher odds) as victims. Bullying involvement was associated with elevated mental health issues, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to improve the well-being and social integration of this vulnerable population.
