Scrutinizing the human TEX genes in the context of human male infertility

In a study involving 1305 men, including 1056 with fertility issues, the stuyd screened for gene variants linked to male infertility. They identified rare variants in TEX10, TEX13A, TEX13B, TEX13C, TEX13D, ZFAND3 (TEX27), TEX33, FAM9A (TEX39A), and FAM9B (TEX39B) in 28 infertile men. Three autosomal dominant genes (TEX10, ZFAND3, and TEX33) were linked to germ cell maturation and identified as potential contributors to non-obstructive azoospermia. However, X-linked genes TEX13B, TEX13C, and FAM9A were not found to be major culprits of male infertility, contrary to previous reports, aiding in more accurate genetic diagnostics for azoospermic men.
