Secukinumab Yields Positive 48-Month Outcomes in Italian Psoriatic Arthritis Patients

A 48-month follow-up of 685 psoriatic arthritis patients treated with secukinumab across multiple Italian centers revealed significant long-term efficacy and safety. Naïve patients achieved better disease control, with 76.9% reaching minimal disease activity (MDA) compared to 66.2% of non-naïve patients (p=0.04). Among those without comorbidities, 78.8% achieved MDA, which dropped to 48.7% in patients with more than three comorbidities (p<0.001). Secukinumab was discontinued in 233 patients due to loss of effectiveness, and 41 due to adverse events. The overall drug retention rate (DRR) was 66%, influenced by factors such as bDMARDs line, BMI, and arthritis type. These findings demonstrate that secukinumab offers sustained remission and favorable safety outcomes for long-term management of psoriatic arthritis.
