Selection Bias Across Analytic Methods in Perinatal Studies

The simulation study evaluated how censoring-related selection bias impacts three common causal inference approaches—inverse probability weighting (IPW), instrumental variable (IV), and sibling-comparison design—in perinatal studies. Findings showed that while all methods exhibited bias in the same direction when censoring was associated with treatment or outcomes, IV analyses were more severely biased under stronger associations, complicating method triangulation.
