Semaglutide 2.4 mg significantly reduces body weight in adults with overweight or obesity. In a phase 3a trial, semaglutide showed a mean weight loss of 11.8%, compared to 3.5% with placebo. Additionally, 85.4% of participants on semaglutide achieved ≥5% weight loss, compared to 26.8% on placebo. While gastrointestinal issues were common, the findings support semaglutide as an effective treatment for weight management in this population.
