Sequential Perfusion Enhances Liver Transplant Viability from High-Risk Donors

Sequential perfusion improves liver transplant outcomes. A study of 33 high-risk liver grafts using ex situ reperfusion, dHOPE, and NMP found 16 met viability criteria and were transplanted. One patient developed early allograft failure, another primary nonfunction, while 56% had no complications. With a median follow-up of 19 months, all transplanted patients remained in good health. This approach expands the donor pool and improves transplant success rates.
