Serelaxin Reduces Organ Damage but Does Not Affect Mortality

The RELAX-AHF-2 biomarker substudy investigated the effects of serelaxin on organ damage in heart failure patients. Serelaxin reduced plasma concentrations of biomarkers for cardiac, renal, and hepatic injury compared to placebo. While early changes in biomarkers like NT-proBNP and troponin were associated with 180-day mortality, serelaxin did not reduce cardiovascular death. However, it significantly decreased worsening heart failure through day 5, suggesting benefits in early heart failure management.
