
A study examined the link between circulating vitamin D (25(OH)D) levels and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk in 236,382 adults. Those under 50 with higher 25(OH)D had significantly reduced CRC risk (HRs: 0.61 and 0.41 for 10-19 ng/mL and ≥20 ng/mL). Similar associations were found in those over 50, though slightly weaker. The study suggests potential preventive benefits of adequate vitamin D levels against CRC, both early-onset and late-onset, highlighting its relevance for public health strategies. Adenocarcinoma, colon cancer, and invasive cancers also showed significant correlations with higher 25(OH)D levels.
