SGLT2 inhibitors, a class of drugs used to treat type 2 diabetes and heart failure, have been found to significantly reduce the risk of gout in individuals with these conditions. The use of SGLT2 inhibitors was associated with a reduced risk of gouty arthritis and gout flares, as well as a lower likelihood of starting anti-gout medications. The study also revealed that the benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors were not influenced by baseline serum uric acid levels or the lowering of uric acid during treatment.
