Severe hypoglycaemia in adults presenting to a hospital emergency department: Clinical characteristics, comorbidities, and mortality outcomes

A recent study conducted in Sheffield, UK, analyzed severe hypoglycemia cases treated at a hospital emergency department. Most cases were observed in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, while some had no diabetes. Patients with type 2 diabetes faced higher socioeconomic deprivation and comorbidities. Hospital admission rates were high, with the longest inpatient stay observed in the type 2 diabetes group.
