The study evaluated the use of shear wave elastography (SWE) for assessing renal stiffness in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and its correlation with eGFR. Conducted with 108 CKD patients and 93 controls, SWE showed a significant difference in renal stiffness values between the groups, with Young’s modulus (YM) correlating negatively with eGFR. A YM cut-off of 4.43 kPa demonstrated high sensitivity (92.6%) and specificity (80.6%) for detecting CKD, suggesting SWE as an effective, non-invasive method for CKD diagnosis and monitoring.
