
A large retrospective study of adults using the TriNetX database found that patients with sickle cell disease have significantly higher rates of hearing loss—especially sensorineural loss—compared to matched controls. Other ENT conditions, including obstructive sleep apnea, allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis, were also more common. Findings highlight the need for routine hearing assessment in sickle cell care.
