This systematic review analyzed 17 studies on sleep disorders in adults and children with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Findings revealed that adults with OCD experience delayed circadian rhythms, insomnia, and poor sleep quality, while children with OCD exhibit sleep-related problems such as nightmares, sleepwalking, and difficulty initiating and maintaining sleep. Actigraphy studies highlighted reduced total sleep time and increased wakefulness after sleep onset. Cognitive behavioral therapy improved sleep symptoms in several cases. The study underscores the need for routine screening of sleep issues in OCD patients to optimize treatment outcomes.
