
The study found that higher sleep spindle and slow oscillation (SO) activity predicted lower amyloid beta (Aβ) and tau levels, better cognitive performance, and slower decline over 36 months in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients. These sleep patterns mediated and moderated the effects of pTau181/Aβ42 on cognition, highlighting their role as non-invasive biomarkers for AD progression and cognitive outcomes.
