
The GESPIC study conducted 16S rRNA sequencing on stool samples from 277 patients with immune-mediated diseases. The study revealed a shared disease signal marked by low Lachnospiraceae abundance, particularly Fusicatenibacter, linked to higher serum CRP levels in controls receiving NSAID monotherapy. SpA patients showed higher Collinsella levels, while HLA-B27+ individuals had enriched Faecalibacterium. CD patients had increased levels of a Ruminococcus taxon, and prior csDMARD therapy correlated with higher Akkermansia levels. The findings shed light on gut dysbiosis in these conditions and potential disease mediators, requiring further validation studies for clarification.
