Stage-Specific Survival in Young Patients With Oral Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma

To determine demographic factors and clinicopathologic characteristics associated with survival in young patients with early- (I-II) or late-stage (III-IV) oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC). Positive lymph nodes, high tumor grade, and larger tumor size were associated with increased mortality risk in early- and late-stage young OTSCC. More aggressive up-front treatment, including extirpative surgery and elective neck dissection, may be associated with improved outcomes and should be considered in early-stage cases with high-risk features.
