The study aimed to investigate the association between bone microarchitecture deterioration and fracture risk in older men. The study assessed bone microarchitecture at the distal radius and tibia using high-resolution peripheral QCT (HR-pQCT) in 732 men aged 60-87 years. During the 8-year follow-up, 109 men had fragility fractures. Rapid cortical bone loss at the distal radius was associated with higher fracture risk, while the rate of trabecular bone loss and bone microarchitecture decline at the distal tibia were not associated with fracture risk. However, the addition of repeated HR-pQCT measurements did not improve the assessment of fracture risk beyond the reference model which included age, weight, prior fractures and falls, baseline and slope of aBMD, and baseline HR-pQCT value.

An umbrella review of 69 systematic reviews covering 970 studies and 221 factors identified six factors with convincing evidence of association with psychotic disorders. High population attributable fractions were observed for childhood adversities (40.69%), Toxoplasma gondii IgG positivity (20.47%), frequent cannabis use (12.75%), and clinical high risk for psychosis (12.68%).
