Genome-wide association studies in rheumatoid arthritis have identified more than 100 genetic risk loci, some of which are associated with genes related to immune functions, but many of which reside in noncoding regions. To date, functional genomics studies have mostly focused on unravelling the role of these noncoding variants in immune cells. However, as understanding of RA pathogenesis has advanced, more attention has been given to stromal cells such as synovial fibroblasts , and the results of a new study now suggest that up to 24% of the genetic risk of RA could actually be attributed to synovial fibroblasts.

Blocking miR-30e-5p reduced atherosclerosis in obese and atherosclerotic mice, highlighting a potential therapeutic pathway.

The model could refine diagnosis and help redefine the biological limits of vital pulp therapy.

Varenicline increased tear production but needs further comparative validation.
