Strong PD‐L1 expression in granulomatous prostatitis

The study investigated the expression of programmed cell death ligand protein (PD-L1) in granulomatous prostatitis (GP). The analysis involved 17 GP cases, including various subtypes, and a control group of patients with high-grade histologic prostatitis and prostate adenocarcinoma. The findings showcased prominent and easily detectable PD-L1 expression in localized and diffuse epithelioid granulomatous prostatic inflammation within all GP cases. In contrast, PD-L1 expression was absent in the control group, including inflammatory infiltrates in high-grade histologic prostatitis, tumor parenchyma, and stroma in prostate adenocarcinoma. This study sheds light on the potential role of PD-L1 in identifying and understanding GP.
