
A recent study assessed the impact of simulated gastric acid on the color and translucency of various indirect restorative materials. The study used 36 disc-shaped samples, each cut with an isomet saw and categorized into four groups: Group Z (translucent zirconia), Group E (lithium disilicate), Group C (resin nanoceramic), and Group P (PEEK) veneered with HIPC. These samples underwent a 96-hour immersion in simulated gastric acid (HCl, pH 1.2) at 37°C. Color change (ΔE00) and translucency (RTP00) were monitored every 9.6 hours. Significant differences (P < 0.001) were observed in color change and translucency across the materials after each simulated year. Translucent zirconia exhibited the least color change, making it preferable for aesthetically concerned patients, particularly in acidic oral environments.
