
Predicting and identifying viral agents causing neonatal late-sepsis has been historically challenging. In a cross-sectional study conducted from September 2020 to December 2022, 145 hospitalized neonates with suspected late-onset sepsis underwent routine sepsis workup and were additionally evaluated for SARS-COV-2 infection. Results revealed that 43.4% of neonates tested positive for SARS-COV-2. Gender, age, and other factors did not significantly influence infection rates or outcomes, but radiological changes showed a significant association with SARS-COV-2 infection, underscoring the importance of considering COVID-19 in neonatal late-sepsis cases.
