During the COVID-19 pandemic in Hubei, China, a study of 28,185 families with preschoolers explored how home quarantine duration impacted preschoolers' sleep problems. The research found that longer quarantine periods correlated with increased sleep issues, partly mediated by increased screen time. Notably, when real family interactions were lacking, extended traditional screen time exacerbated sleep problems significantly. These insights suggest strategies like limiting screen exposure and promoting genuine family interactions to aid parents in supporting their children through home quarantine challenges.
