Study Links Low Serum PM20D1 Levels to Poor Prognosis in Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Patients

A recent study examined the serum levels of Peptidase M20 domain containing 1 (PM20D1) in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) patients and its correlation with lipid metabolism, echocardiography, and hemodynamic parameters. The prospective observational study involved 103 IPAH patients from January 2018 to January 2022. Serum PM20D1 levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) within 24 hours of admission, along with demographic data and other relevant biomarkers. Findings revealed that decreased PM20D1 levels were associated with poor prognosis in IPAH patients and identified PM20D1 as a significant mortality risk factor.
