Study Links Wilson's Disease to Depression and Sleep Disturbances

A study investigated the association between Wilson's disease (WD) and psychological manifestations, focusing on sleep disturbance. Comparing 42 WD patients with 40 healthy counterparts, researchers found significantly higher levels of anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances in WD individuals. Subgroup analysis revealed that neurological variant WD patients experienced more severe symptoms. Depression emerged as a dominant risk factor for sleep disturbance in WD patients. These findings underscore the importance of addressing psychological factors, particularly depression, in managing sleep disturbances among WD patients.
