The study compared the oral hygiene status of patients using mefakia and modern toothbrushes at the Holy Bethel Dental Clinic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Among 246 participants, 67% of toothbrush users and 65% of mefakia users demonstrated good oral hygiene. Both tools were found comparably effective in maintaining oral hygiene. The findings highlight the importance of promoting accessible tools, such as mechanical toothbrushes with fluoridated toothpaste, for improved dental health.
