A recent study examined cognitive function, glycolipid levels, and reproductive hormone profiles in female patients with bipolar disorder (BD). The study included 58 unmedicated BD patients, 61 stable-medicated BD patients, and 63 healthy controls. Significant cognitive impairment was observed in BD patients, irrespective of medication status. Stable-medicated BD patients exhibited altered levels of triglycerides, luteinizing hormone, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Notably, regression analysis revealed negative associations between progesterone, prolactin, and cognitive performance in stable-medicated BD patients. These findings underscore the potential impact of glycolipid and reproductive hormone abnormalities on cognitive dysfunction in female BD patients
