Study Reveals Critical Factor Influencing Benign Uretero-enteric Anastomotic Stricture Formation Post-Cystectomy

A comprehensive analysis of 366 cystectomy patients investigated the impact of distal ureteral resection length on the development of benign uretero-enteric anastomotic strictures (UEAS). Results indicate that longer distal ureteral resections were significantly linked to a lower risk of UEAS formation. Multivariable analyses adjusting for various factors supported this finding, emphasizing the critical role of ureteral length in stricture development. The study sheds light on potential preventive measures for UEAS and contributes to understanding the multifactorial etiology of these strictures.
