A recent study investigated differences in cortical bone thickness (CBT) of the tibial diaphysis between healthy and osteoarthritic knees. It explored the impacts of femorotibial angle (FTA) and medial compartment inclination of the proximal tibia (MCT) on tibial CBT. Researchers examined 60 subjects with varus knee osteoarthritis and 53 healthy elderly subjects using high-resolution CT scans. Results revealed that osteoarthritic knees exhibited thicker CBT in the medial proximal tibia than healthy knees, with significant correlations observed between CBT, FTA, and MCT inclination in the osteoarthritic group.
