Study Reveals Impact of Sex Hormones on Heart Function During Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

A study delves into the influence of sex hormones on heart contractility during coronary artery bypass surgery. The study involved 150 patients and found that low testosterone correlated with higher force values in the right auricle, while low estradiol was associated with increased force values in the right auricle for females. Moreover, the estradiol/testosterone ratio yielded different results between genders, suggesting potential gender-related differences in cardiovascular disease.
