
A recent study explored the relationship between metabolic factors and lung cancer risk. It identified positive associations between diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance with lung cancer incidence, while body mass index (BMI) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) exhibited negative correlations. Conversely, metabolic syndrome, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), hypertension, fasting blood glucose (FBG), and obesity displayed no significant correlations. These findings emphasize the potential impact of managing metabolic disorders in reducing lung cancer risk. The study suggests that controlling diabetes and insulin resistance while maintaining optimal BMI and HDL-C levels could be crucial in mitigating the risk of lung cancer.
