Study Reveals Neural Mechanisms of Alcohol Use Disorder

The study delves into the neural mechanisms of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), utilizing voxel-wise binarized degree centrality (DC), weighted DC, and functional connectivity (FC) analyses. The study examined 33 AUD patients and 29 healthy controls and found decreased DC in the left precentral gyrus and inferior parietal lobule in AUD. FC analysis reveals altered connectivity in multiple brain regions, with correlations between FC changes and alcohol dependence severity. These findings suggest that binarized DC, weighted DC, and FC analyses could serve as indicators for regional brain activities in AUD, offering insights into potential pathological pathways.
