UROLOGY

In a study, the efficacy of pembrolizumab in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) who experienced recurrence or progression after platinum-based chemotherapy was evaluated. Data from 235 patients across 34 institutions in 14 countries were assessed for overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall response rate (ORR). Results showed a median OS of 8.6 months, with 1-year and 2-year OS rates of 43% and 29% respectively. Median PFS was 5.1 months, with 6-month, 12-month, and 24-month survival rates of 46%, 34%, and 25% respectively. Pembrolizumab demonstrated an overall response rate of 32%. The study concluded that pembrolizumab was effective in UTUC patients previously treated with platinum-based therapy, regardless of their response to first-line treatment or histology.
