The retrospective study of 113 children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) explored the impact of body mass index (BMI) on disease severity. The cohort, categorized by BMI Z-score, revealed underweight and severe obesity (OB) as factors linked to higher disease activity and relapse rates. Notably, underweight and severe OB patients exhibited elevated ferritin levels and erythrocyte sedimentation rate values. The findings underscore the importance of weight management in children with JIA to mitigate adverse disease outcomes.
