Study Says Novel Nanoparticle Combo Shows Promise in Fighting Oral Bacterial Infections

An in-vitro study evaluates the antibacterial effectiveness of Ca(OH)2 loaded on Gum Arabic (GA) nanocarrier (Ca(OH)2-GA NPs) compared to conventional Ca(OH)2, Ca(OH)2 nanoparticles (NPs), GA, and GA NPs. Nanoparticle formulations were characterized, applied to human premolars, and tested against E. faecalis biofilms. Ca(OH)2-GA NPs demonstrated superior antibacterial activity, reducing E. faecalis biofilm gene expression significantly. SEM observation confirmed the efficacy, suggesting Ca(OH)2-GA NPs as promising intracanal medications for dental treatments.
