During the COVID-19 pandemic, a study in Egypt involving 42 children with type 1 diabetes on insulin pump therapy for over a year revealed positive outcomes. The mean total daily insulin dose and basal percentage slightly increased, while time in range and coefficient of variation exhibited minor improvements. Most notably, the mean HbA1C significantly decreased. Despite some encountering insulin pump problems, such as skin irritation and occlusion, overall, no safety concerns were identified, emphasizing the potential for glycemic improvement in this population during the pandemic.
