A study revealed promising progress in open-angle glaucoma (OAG) diagnosis compared visual field damage at presentation between clinically diagnosed OAG patients from the 2010s and screened patients from the 1990s. The results showed an improvement in the clinical group over the past two decades. However, nearly 20% of clinically diagnosed patients still exhibited severe visual field loss in at least one eye, a concerning statistic given its link to future glaucoma blindness.
