Study Shows Ultrasound-Guided Vacuum Aspiration Reduces Risk of Intrauterine Adhesion After Miscarriage

A study compared ultrasound-guided manual vacuum aspiration (USG-MVA) with electric vacuum aspiration (EVA) for managing first-trimester miscarriage in women. The findings revealed that USG-MVA resulted in a significantly lower incidence of intrauterine adhesion (IUA) postoperatively (19.0% vs. 32.0% for EVA). Although menstrual outcomes at 6 months were similar, more patients in the EVA group experienced miscarriages with IUA. The study suggests that USG-MVA is a safer option for managing first-trimester miscarriage.
