Despite reports linking elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) to higher hypertension and type 2 diabetes (T2D) risks, the comprehensive dose-response relationship remains unclear. A meta-analysis of ten articles (13 studies, 11,878 cases, 51,234 participants) explored this association. Eight studies (five cohorts, three cross-sectional) on PTH and hypertension revealed a positive linear relationship, with a 5% increased hypertension risk for every 10 pg/ml rise in PTH. However, evidence for PTH and T2D association was inconclusive. Elevated PTH appears linked to hypertension, necessitating further well-designed studies for conclusive T2D findings.
