A recent study delved into the impact of unique time-weighted blood pressure (BP) on cardiovascular outcomes through a post hoc analysis of ACCORD and SPRINT trials. The study encompassed 18,541 participants and revealed a J-curve correlation between time-weighted BP and major cardiovascular events. Independently, systolic and diastolic BP burdens were linked to increased risks across various hypertension thresholds. The findings emphasize the significance of time-weighted BP in predicting adverse cardiovascular events for patients with or without diabetes. The study underscores the importance of monitoring both SBP and DBP, irrespective of hypertension definitions.
