A study validated the Worst Itch Numeric Rating Scale (WI-NRS) for patients with moderate to severe Prurigo nodularis (PN) and established clinically meaningful improvement thresholds. The secondary analysis of the PRIME and PRIME2 trials assessed WI-NRS through patient interviews and pooled data from randomized, double-masked studies. Findings indicated strong psychometric properties, including reliability, validity, and sensitivity to change. A 4-point improvement threshold in WI-NRS scores, validated through both anchor and distribution-based methods, suggests its suitability for assessing itch intensity in PN treatment efficacy studies.
