Supratrochlear Spur Height Linked to Patellofemoral Cartilage Damage.

The study of 363 knees with trochlear dysplasia found that a supratrochlear spur height ≥6 mm significantly increases the risk of patellofemoral cartilage damage. Knees with patellar and trochlear defects had larger spur heights (5.1 mm vs 4.3 mm and 5.3 mm vs 4.4 mm, respectively). Large spurs (≥6 mm) showed adjusted odds ratios of 2.7 for patellar and 3.4 for trochlear cartilage damage.
