
Surface roughness and microbial colonization vary by material and manufacturing method. Laser-sintered Cr–Co had the smoothest surface, while milled zirconia exhibited the roughest. Streptococcus mutans colonization was highest on milled zirconia and Candida albicans on milled titanium stock. These differences can influence clinical decisions, as surface roughness and microbial colonization may affect implant outcomes. Key findings include the lowest microbial count on Cr–Co and anodized titanium.
