Baclofen is the sole intervention supported by randomized control evidence for enhancing abstinence rates in cirrhosis individuals. A systematic review from inception to November 2022 scrutinized interventions designed to address alcohol use disorder, specifically among patients grappling with cirrhosis or alcohol-associated hepatitis. The interventions studied ranged from psychological therapy and pharmacological treatments to specialist clinics, patient education, and low-alcohol beverages. Significantly, Baclofen emerged as the sole intervention to yield a statistically meaningful impact on primary outcomes within a randomized trial, boosting abstinence rates. Moreover, non-randomized studies hinted at the potential of non-pharmaceutical interventions to improve clinical outcomes.
