The study examined systemic factors influencing intravitreal injection response in non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) patients with macular edema. Retrospective analysis of 112 eyes revealed higher glycated haemoglobin and lower glomerular filtration rates in the refractory group compared to the responsive group. These factors independently predicted response degrees. Education on renal function monitoring alongside blood glucose control is vital for NPDR macular edema management.
