A systematic review examines mobile audiometry (MA) advancements for hearing assessments using tablets and smartphones. The review assesses the accuracy of MA in measuring hearing thresholds and factors affecting it. The study covered 17 articles involving 1032 participants. The most-used MA software was ShoeboxTM, with tablet computers being the preferred devices. Overall, MA showed a mean difference of 1.36 dB compared to conventional audiometry (CA). While some differences were noted, MA remains a promising tool, especially where CA is unavailable or impractical. Future research should explore its broader applications, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
